'In York everyone's an archaeologist...'

Time Town marks poet Robert Powell's year-long creative journey as Writer in Residence with York Civic Trust.

Meet Punch Porteous, an unknown yet somehow legendary York character who has become lost in the city's past. Dazed and confused, Punch looks for his lost home and family, encountering famous historical figures like Alcuin and Dick Turpin, but more often the many ordinary people of York.

Meanwhile, in the shadows of a Georgian museum, mannequins talk, ghosts walk, and a hapless Writer in Residence literally becomes part of the furniture.

Time Town playfully considers the nature of the past, and how we recall, record, and construct it.
